Danube is a tribute to Kacha’s roots. Named after the river that runs through Serbia, where she was born, this deep and moody green captures the water’s tranquil beauty and strength. Pair it with warm whites like Belgrade, or with earthy terracotta tones.

How to use

Five steps to a beautiful finish.

  1. Clean

    Degrease the piece and rinse it well with clean water. Let it dry 24 hours so no moisture gets trapped under the paint. Most pieces need no sanding or priming.

    • Laminate or shiny furniture: sand or prime first.
    • Dark woods (cherry, walnut, mahogany) bleed through: use a shellac-based primer.
    • Flaking or chipping finish: sand it off first.
  2. Paint

    Stir well and apply with the Kacha Signature Paint Brush. The paint self-levels, so brush strokes settle out. Blend, layer or dry-brush without adding water.

  3. Recoat

    Wait about an hour between coats (20–30 minutes in dry weather, longer when humid). Plan on three coats to be safe; many darker colors cover in two.

  4. Seal after 24 hours

    Clear Finishing Wax (1–2 coats) for the traditional chalk-paint look, or Clear Matte or Satin Topcoat (3 coats) for pieces that get a lot of use. Use wax or topcoat, never one over the other.

  5. Be gentle while it cures

    Full cure takes about 21 days. Use the piece, but don’t slide things across it or scrub it for the first two to three weeks.

Do I need to seal painted furniture?

Yes. Kacha paint is a chalk-style paint, so it should be protected. Unsealed, darker colors especially will show fingerprints. Seal it with Clear Finishing Wax or with a topcoat, Clear Matte or Clear Satin. Wait 24 hours after your last coat of paint before sealing.

Can I paint over furniture that is already painted?

Yes, if the old paint is in good condition and nothing is peeling. Kacha’s preference is to remove it if you don’t know what’s underneath, because the new paint can only hold as well as the paint below it.
